Where: Ipsento coffee, Chicago.

What I ordered: the Ipsento; espresso, coconut milk, honey, and cayenne.

What it tasted like: a roller coaster ride for my taste buds! Sweet, bold, with a lingering spicy flavor. Not for the unadventurous eater. Ipsento offers so many unusual coffee drinks, like one of their signatures the Rose infused latte.

The Ipsento didn’t taste much of coffee, the best thing I could compare it to is an authentic mexican hot chocolate or chai tea. The foam was a bit loose and flat- if that makes sense, but I think that’s just a result of the coconut milk which doesn’t really whip like dairy.

The environment is great, very bright, eclectic and artsy, as you would expect. There’s a sitting room in the back that was packed with a very multicultural crowd, college kids, Mexicans, an Australian pair, and local Chicagonites.

All in all I can’t wait to come back and try that Rose latte, and maybe take one of their Coffee 101 classes, where you can learn about the history of coffee and multiple methods of brewing

Till next time

Cheers to coffee, xo
