I didn’t expect Michigan to be so incredibly lush with plant life, vines and wildflowers. One of the things that immediately caught my eye is the fiery orange of rogue tiger lilies that grow abundant along roadsides, contrasting against the bright purple of thier sometimes companions wild sweet peas.
Here they call them “ditch lilies” which is an altogether sad name for such a beautiful plant
These lilies only bloom for one day before closing up. Thier beauty is fleeting….. I guess they remind me that beauty lies in sometimes unexpected places. Like the cast out cast aways of society they are taken for granted and often missed, but if you stop to look; find something altogether sweet and beautiful in its own wild right. May we all adorn our path with a wild lily.
